Charity – Unity – Fraternity – Patriotism
According to Wikipedia, “The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic fraternal service organization “. The truth is we are so much more than that. The Knights of Columbus are a family of Catholic brothers that has been caring for victims of disaster, helping the poor and giving charity to the marginalized for over 130 years.
In 1882, Father Michael J. McGivney, an assistant pastor in New Haven, CT, founded our organization to support widows and orphans in his congregation while giving Catholic men a brotherhood that did not compromise their Christian values. Since then, the Knights have created multi-million dollar endowments for educational scholarships, given billions in charitable donations, and volunteered billions more in man-hours for disaster relief. We sponsor and support initiatives on local, national, and international levels — including the Special Olympics, the Global Wheelchair Mission, and Habitat for Humanity.
At Corpus Christi Church in Celebration, FL, Knights Council 14132 has created its own additional programs which grant college scholarships to local high school students, and provide financial support to Assisted Living for Mentally Challenged Adults in St. Cloud, as well as host various drug prevention programs for local schoolchildren. We partner with organizations like the Rotary Club of Celebration to bring coats to children who cannot afford winter clothes and the Corpus Christi Youth Group to serve at events around town including our Free-throw Shooting Contest and Altar Server Recognition Dinner.
We would love to see you at our next event and invite you to join us!
