Sam McFaddenThe Corpus Christi Knights of Columbus is proud to announce that Sam McFadden is the 2020 Flavio Della Pupa Knights of Columbus scholarship winner. This year there were six highly qualified applicants for the $2000.00 award. Applicants are asked to share their future plans for college, explain their support for the mission of Corpus Christi Parish and the Knights of Columbus. They must verify their need for the financial assistance that the scholarship will provide. The quality of the applicants is very impressive. Two of the applicants have been altar servers for eight years and one applicant has been a server for eleven years. Sam has been accepted to several different universities and has indicated that he is planning to attend Valencia College for his first two years. His ultimate goal is to obtain a law degree and to possibly become a judge.

Sam has become a Knight this past year. He was so very impressed when he was seven years old and he saw the Knights in full regalia at the Mary Queen of the Universe Shrine on Easter Sunday. He has spent many years involved with the Boy Scout programs and earned the rank of Eagle Scout in December of 2017. Sam has been very active in a variety of activities at Corpus Christi. He has been a Eucharistic Minister, a Hospitality Minister and has been teaching religious education for middle school students. Last summer he served as a lifeguard at Camp Fatima in New Jersey. It is a program for disabled children. In addition to his many church activities, Sam managed to earn straight A’s through four years of high school. Congratulation Sam. A job well done.
