11th Annual Golf Tournament Proceeds Presentation

Kelly Locke from the JMJ Life Center talked about all the services that centers provide, including pregnancy testing, Through the Lifting Lives program, JMJ provides emotional and material support for the pregnant mother through the first year of the babies life. Everything they provide comes from donations so the money provided will be put to good use.


Sheila Parfait and Gerry Denhoff appeared on behalf of the Corpus Christi St. Vincent dePaul Society. They talked about the work the society carries out bringing food and comfort to those along the Highway 192 corridor in Kissimmee, visiting clients not only in hotel rooms, public venues and even into the woods where the homeless may be camping. The pair pointed out the group is always in need of more volunteers and more money.

Carmen Carrasquillo, Chief Operating Officer and Connie Benca, Chief Financial Officer of Osceola Council on Aging came to accept a donation to the Meals on Wheels program. They talked about how important the Knights of Columbus monetary donation was to the program, allowing them to continue to provide hot meals for seniors that might otherwise not be able to eat.

JR Logan talked about the mission of Fairways for Warriors to provide hope, healing and camaraderie for combat wounded veterans and their families. Fairways for Warriors, founded in 2010, has locations in Orlando, San Antonio, Newport, Tampa, Northeast and Northwest Florida.

Chris Jordan, the County Director for the Special Olympics of Florida stopped by to thank the Knights for continuing to support the Special Olympics with time and talent besides treasure. Chris was upstaged by Rachel, a multi-medal winning athlete who spoke about how important Special Olympics was to her and how much she appreciated her parent’s support of her efforts.

Tammy Douglass of Help Now of Osceola spoke of the number of women and children given temporary safe shelter as the survivors of domestic abuse who are facing imminent danger. Help Now is committed to supporting individuals as they move toward establishing a violence-free life. Tammy mentioned that the money provided by the Knights would be put to good use as the current shelter is in need of major renovations.

Council 14132 has been a long time supporter of Bishop Grady Villas in St. Cloud. Development Director Laurel Hayward spoke about the help the assisted living facility provides to adults with disabilities. Bishop Grady Villas provides residents with a way to achieve greater independence and physical and emotional well being.

Gloria Niec from the Celebration Foundation Thriving in Place talked about how the organization was able to help Celebration seniors to stay in the homes and community they love even when there are challenges brought on by the aging process. Members can call or email the office to be connected to social activities, educational programs, helping hands and other resources to help the member continue living in their own home. 

As Knights of Columbus, we are committed to helping our parish, Corpus Christi. Deacon Steve Knych accepted checks for both the Youth Ministry program and for the debt reduction of the church building fund. Corpus Christi is aggressively paying down its mortgage so the Phase Two construction project can begin.

The Rotary Club of Celebration and the Knights of Columbus partner on several activities throughout the year including the annual Coats for Kids Drive. This year, the Knights voted to monetarily contribute to the good works the Rotary Club of Celebration supports.
